This work is the ‘kill.’ The small birds collected for their beauty alone, and hung out on a branch for display. I have crocheted them in beautiful sparkly yarn to highlight their preciousness and hung them in a beautiful faux fur tree with golden crocheted sparkly tips. White paper flowers spring out in memorium to their deaths.

Ideas around this new work are still being formulated.

I have been looking at still life paintings by master painters such as Frans Snyders and wanting to formulate these beautiful works into 3d works that speak to me now.

So the challenge is to translate the idea of the hunt, for consumption and trophy, with the dire need to care for our fauna and flora as our world changes so quickly with climate change and mans greed to consume & consume and destroy without viewing the consequence of overwhelming loss.
